Career Highlight:

Burton's 2013 meeting with Jahmeene Smyle was intended to be a thorough examination of the Manchester man's credentials. Burton ignored the script and destroyed his opponent in the opening session.

An outstanding amateur who reached the domestic summit in 2009 when he was crowned ABA champion, Hosea Burton was a highly sought after boxer when he made his professional intentions known.

Since turning pro in 2012, Burton was moving along just nicely but his reputation soared when he halted Jahmeene Smyle in one round in 2013. Operating in the talent-laden light-heavyweight division, opportunities are plentiful for Burton and it's only a matter of time before the Joe Gallagher student is fighting for big honours.

It took just one vicious right hand to the jaw for Hosea Burton to highlight to some what others, those around him, have known for many years. On the evidence of pro appearance number one, this young from Manchester may well prove to be one of the hardest punchers in all of British boxing.
Already highly touted on account of his amateur success, of course, Burton made any remaining skeptics sit up and take note with a stunning first-round knockout of Viktor Tzonev in Bolton. Patient, but with purpose, the former Senior ABA champion bided his time before uncorking the mother of all finishing blows to render Tzonev unconscious and the bout over.
Coach Joe Gallagher likened the promising super-middleweight to Thomas Hearns in the lead up to the bout, and it was now clear to see why. Long and lean like the 'Motor City Cobra', Burton also appears to posses comparable levels of TNT, especially in his pulverizing right cross, a punch aptly labelled 'The Hammer'.
Very few early opponents will expect to get past 'The Hammer' and stumble their way to the final bell, such is the force generated by Burton's trademark weapon. Former British champion Paul Smith, one man who has tasted the shot in sparring, even goes as far as to suggest Burton is one of the hardest punching fighters he has ever shared a gym with. High praise, indeed.
In addition to concussive punch power, Burton also prides himself on sound technical skills and pedigree. As a former ABA champion, he possesses both in abundance.

Hosea has won 5 National Titles and is a former Senior ABA Champion.
